Of Halloween Costumes

What would your dream Halloween costume be?
Have you ever done it?
Are you dressing up this year?

Mine is Carrie.
I feel for her so much. Bullying ruins lives and even hearing the names of the girls that bullied me for four straight years, makes me seethe with anger.
It's probably a good job we didn't have proms when I was at school, as I may have had my own Carrie moment!

I am not a fan of remakes, so when I heard they were remaking the film, my heart fell, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Truthfully, I preferred the Chloe Grace Mortez version of Carrie, she is far more vulnerable.
That's not to say I don't think the Sissy Spacek version has merit.

One day I shall do this costume, it's just for me, there are never opportunities to dress up for Halloween.

In the UK, Halloween is all about scary and even if we were to get any trick or treaters here, I wouldn't want to scare them by answering the door a bloody mess.

"No! No, come back!" I would be shouting, as I chased small children dressed as witches down the street, "I have sweets for you! Look, sweets!"

"Run children, run!" their mothers would be shouting, as the small children caught their feet in the hems of supermarket purchased costumes. They would glance back, as I paused confused, the words ungrateful and wretches bouncing around in my head.

"I got them specially!" I would protest forcefully, lobbing fun sized chocolate bars at them. "Where are you going?"

"Don't look back children!" the mothers would sob, grabbing small hands in theirs as they pick up speed, the pumpkins ablaze on peoples doorsteps, children tripping over their own feet.

"But I only wanted to give you sweeties and participate in Halloween," I would say mournfully, giving up the chase.

Which version of Carrie do you prefer?

  1. I've not seen either and I suspect I won't as I don't watch Scary movies anymore as they traumatise me too much and stay in my mind.
    Hope you are well.x

  2. Although I'm not into horror movies, I did see the original version of Carrie. So, I can't compare, but I've got a feeling I'd prefer the original one. We do have trick or treaters of some kind here, but it's usually just the local kids, and we do have some treats ready just in case. Talk about scary: I will be opening the door in my pyjamas ;-) xxx

  3. I saw the original Carrie years and years ago but other than the bucket of gore I don't remember much about it. I haven't seen or heard of the remake, horror isn't my thing, I've tried but end up tutting at the implausibility.
It would be a dull old world if we all liked the same thing. xxx

  4. I've never seen the newer version of Carrie, so it will have to be the older one by default.

High School was a horrible place. I wasn't bullied, but I was still on tranquilisers by the time I left. I'm sorry to hear your high school years were so dreadful.

Dream Halloween costume? Dunno, really. Nowadays I feel too fat to dress up, though I suppose I could manage Granny Addams.

  5. I've seen both. I hated high school and sympathized with Carrie
